Experts\u00a0say\u00a0that the supplements\u00a0make\u00a0no\u00a0difference\u00a0in relieving opioid withdrawal.\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s no credible evidence that dietary supplements can help with the prevention of opioid addiction, detoxification, or relapse prevention\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0recovery,\u201d says\u00a0Bachaar\u00a0Arnaout, an addiction psychiatrist and assistant professor at the Yale School of Medicine.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The FTC, the agency that regulates\u00a0dietary supplement\u00a0advertising,\u00a0has been\u00a0mailing partial refund checks\u00a0this fall\u00a0to\u00a0consumers\u00a0who bought\u00a0another supposed addiction supplement,\u00a0a\u00a0drink mix\u00a0called\u00a0Elimidrol, which\u00a0consists\u00a0of herbs and other compounds.\u00a0Elimidrol\u2019s\u00a0manufacturer claimed\u00a0that\u00a0the mix\u00a0could alleviate\u00a0opioid-withdrawal symptoms and increase a user\u2019s likelihood of\u00a0overcoming\u00a0opioid\u00a0addiction.\u00a0The\u00a0FTC labeled\u00a0that claim\u00a0\u201cfalse and misleading,\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0the company agreed to refund customers $235,000.<\/p>\n
