Vehicle Donation Charity Ordered to Shut<\/h1>\n<h1>Down After Alleged False Advertising<\/h1>\n<p>By\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/labusinessjournal.com\/news\/2017\/jun\/26\/l-vehicle-donation-charity-ordered-shut-down-after\/\">Howard Fine<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles vehicle donation charity People\u2019s Choice Charity has been ordered to shut down and pay at least $30,000 in penalties to set up a fund with the California Community Foundation to support charitable programs for the benefit of children. A payment of $870,000 was stayed but may be enforced if the nonprofit violates the injunction.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"popup_7TLM_Cheat_Sheet\" data-toggle=\"modal\" data-target=\"#popup_7TLM_Cheat_Sheet_modal\" href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/images\/button_banner-7TLM_Cheat_Sheet.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>People\u2019s Choice Charities advertised that when people donated their vehicles through the company, 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of cars would be given to charities selected by the donors, according to a joint statement from Becerra\u2019s and Lacey\u2019s offices.<\/p>\n<p>The stipulated final judgment places a permanent injunction on Gary Stone, the nonprofit\u2019s president, barring him from serving as a director, officer, trustee or employee of any California charitable organization.
