Just when I thought I had seen it all, here is another case of deceptive and unsubstantiated\u00a0claims by a manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p>The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has clamped down on the \u2018<em>false and unsubstantiated advertising<\/em>\u2019 of a device that claimed it could kill pathogenic bacteria.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/go.ftcguardian.com\/bw4uoy\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/ftcguardian\/images\/728x90-Un-vjy-FTC-GUARDIAN-banner-2.gif\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The settlement imposes judgments of $629,359, against Zadro Health Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The FTC alleged that Zadro Health Solutions and its owners Zlatko and Rebecca Zadro made false and baseless advertising claims about their Nano-UV devices.<\/p>\n<p>In their ads, defendants claimed their devices \u201c<em>safely kill 99.99% of targeted bacteria \u2013 E. coli, Salmonella and the H1N1 (swine flu) virus in 10 seconds<\/em>\u201d and that their \u201c<em>specifically designed Disinfecting Wands have been proven to eliminate 99.99% of targeted germs and viruses in as little as 10 seconds.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Zadro Health Solutions\u2019 water and surface disinfectant devices allegedly were touted as \u201c<em>producing sufficient energy to damage and alter DNA of all kinds of microorganisms.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On their Nano-UV packaging, the Zadro defendants allegedly claimed Nano-UV wands were proven effective for killing 99% of germs on numerous surfaces, including in food preparation areas.<\/p>\n<p>Prices for the Nano-UV devices ranged from $59.99, to $159.99, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The defendants said their devices\u2019 UV rays would kill dangerous microorganisms, but they didn\u2019t have scientific evidence to back that up,\u201d<\/em> said Jessica Rich, director of the FTC\u2019s Bureau of Consumer Protection.<\/p>\n<p><!-- excluded --><!-- cache-block [survey: Mon, 24 Aug 2015 1:32:36 +0200 -#- 12 hours -#- ] --><!-- cache-block [\/survey: Mon, 24 Aug 2015 1:32:36 +0200 -#- 12 hours -#- ] --><!-- \/excluded --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodqualitynews.com\/Regulation-and-safety\/Zadro-Health-Solutions-stop-claims-for-UV-light-disinfectant-tool\" target=\"_blank\">Zadro Health Solutions stop claims for UV light \u201cdisinfectant\u201d tool<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s How To Make Sure You,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your Business & Website Is FTC Compliant<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By now it should be clear how important it is for you to be FTC compliant.
